As part of the brand’s Kia 2.0 strategy, the Korean carmaker committed to bringing a variety of new products into the domestic market, and the Kia EV9 flagship SUV is one of them. Kia currently only has one electric car in its lineup, the EV6. The Kia EV9 concept was displayed at the 2023 Auto Expo, and the final production version made its worldwide debut last year. The upcoming electric SUV will be positioned above the existing EV6 in the company’s lineup. It is based on the E-GMP platform, which it shares with the EV6 and Hyundai IONIQ 5, and is available in multiple powertrain combinations internationally.

There is also a long-range variant available, which employs a 99.8 kWh battery pack and claims a range of 541 kilometers on a single charge. This battery pack will be offered with both a single motor and a dual motor setup, with the latter producing a maximum power output of 380 bhp.

Based on the spy shots, the design of the Kia EV9 electric SUV appears familiar, with a blanked-off front grille combined with Kia’s signature tiger nose element. It is accompanied by a set of vertical LED headlamps and a sturdy front bumper. The side profile features flush door handles, squared-off wheel arches, and large 21-inch alloy wheels. The rear continues the vertical look with the tail lamps, and it also includes a sleek high-mounted stop lamp.
