Under the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign conducted by Global NCAP, the Tata Nexon has obtained the second highest score for adult and child occupant safety. This campaign also witnessed Tata Motors securing the top safety rating for its latest Safari and Harrier SUVs. As Bharat NCAP comes into action, the voluntary testing of the Tata Nexon serves as one of the final evaluations of the campaign.
In 2018, the Nexon created history by becoming the first car in India to achieve a five-star #SaferCarsForIndia rating. Fast forward to 2023, the updated Nexon boasts additional safety features, including six airbags and standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC). This revised rating applies to all Nexon models manufactured after August 8th, 2023.

It is important to note that Global NCAP’s crash test protocols encompass assessments for frontal and side impact protection across all vehicle models. Additionally, the presence of Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is evaluated. The highest star rating can only be achieved by vehicles that also undergo assessments for pedestrian protection and side pole impact protection.
Mohan Savarkar, the Chief Product Officer at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, expressed his satisfaction with this new milestone by stating, “Our commitment to innovation and excellence is showcased once again as the new Nexon achieves the prestigious 5-star rating from Global NCAP, as per the enhanced 2022 protocol. This car has always placed safety at its core, being the first car in India to receive a 5-star rating from GNCAP back in 2018.”

With over six lakh unit sales, the Tata Nexon has established itself as one of the highest-selling SUVs in India. This sub-four-meter SUV exhibits a strong structure and effective restraint systems, ensuring excellent protection for occupants. Moreover, it demonstrates exceptional performance in dynamic tests by providing nearly complete protection for child occupants. The presence of i-size anchorages and a passenger airbag disabling switch ensures the safe transportation of children.
Furthermore, the Nexon complies with UN127 and GTR9 standards for pedestrian protection, making it an outstanding choice in terms of safety. The vehicle also adheres to Global NCAP’s requirements for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and incorporates seatbelt reminders for all seating positions. In addition, it showcases various advanced safety features and technologies, including Emergency (E-call) assistance, Breakdown (B-call) assistance, a 360-degree camera, Blind view monitoring, Front parking sensors, auto-dimming IRVM, TPMS, a front fog lamp with cornering function, and a reverse camera.
